2015 NAAIM Wagner Award Competition Now Accepting Submissions – Register Today!

The National Association of Active Investment Managers, or NAAIM, announced that the 2015 Call for Papers and Intent to Submit Form  are now available on their website www.NAAIM.org for the seventh annual NAAIM Wagner Award competition.  The competition is open to a variety of financial services professionals, from academic faculty, researchers and graduate students to investment advisors, analysts and other financial professionals.

The paper that demonstrates the best advancement in active investment management, as deemed by NAAIM’s judges, will receive $10,000 in prize money.  Deadline to submit your paper is Monday, March 2, 2015.

The NAAIM Wagner Award competition has had over 150 papers submitted since its inception in 2007.  For seven years, NAAIM has honored and rewarded those who demonstrate advancements in active investment management, with topics ranging from optimal momentum strategies to last year’s topic of risks and biases in trading systems.

“There are a variety of successful approaches to Active Investment Management.  NAAIM seeks the innovators – those who can demonstrate not only a unique approach, but one that NAAIM Members could practically apply to their own business”, explained Greg Morris, chief technical analyst and chairman of the investment committee at Stadion Money Management and chairman of the 2015  Wagner Award Committee.

Competition participants need to provide either a documented and justified investing approach or an exploration into the validity of active investing.  Active investing topics can involve making investment decisions using technical analysis, quantitative analysis, etc. Papers can also address related topics such as position sizing techniques, money management approaches, scaling into and out of trades, exit strategies, etc.

The first-place NAAIM Wagner Award winner will receive $10,000 and will be given an opportunity to present their paper at the NAAIM annual conference May 3 – 6, at the Newport Beach Marriott Resort and Spa in Newprt Beach, CA.  Free conference attendance, domestic air travel and accommodations at the Marriott will be provided.

Second and third place papers can receive $3,000 and $1,000, respectively and are awarded at the judges’ discretion.

NAAIM asks that you complete a brief Submit to Intent form, located on the last page of the Call For Papers.  The form is interactive – complete on your computer and submit via email or download and fax/mail in.
